Empire 47 has developed a dream trail network for an XTERRA, through multi-million dollar investments in the last 2 years alone. We offer you a perfectly balanced course. A mixture of challenges and "flow", 100% freshly built or mechanically restored trails. Climbs: You face the 3 longest climbs in order, from the most difficult at kilometer 3.5 (for 3.5 km of ascent), to the intermediate at 15.5 (for 2 km) and to the easiest at kilometer 20.5 (for 2 km also). The 2 most technical climbing sections of the whole course are found in the 1st climb: a 600m section in the Montée de lait and a few kilometers further another 600m section in the Montée de la Soif before reaching the summit . For the 2nd long climb, you will love the Apex, the latest novelty, a smooth singletrack type climb. The other climbs are very easy, being located in the Family or very short distances. A total of 650m of elevation gain over the 27km. Descents: One of the favorites of this course will undoubtedly be the new Mirador descent at km 7, for 2 km of pure pleasure and “flow”. The other main descents of interest are the Pada-One (km 11), a superb Jumpline (jumps or rolls completely without problem for beginners) which brings us back to the main site at the midpoint; the Kamasutrail (km 17.5), a classic and a must at Empire 47; the Huron (km 22.5), a nice easy descent that brings us back to the transition zone before starting the run. Other points of interest: Since the 2021 edition, the transition zone has been moved to the lake side, on the grounds of the magnificent Manoir du Lac Delage. Several footbridges will be erected on the 2022 route to allow for a more balanced route, signage and a very simple path for participants to follow, a return to the main site at the halfway point (km 12) to the delight of spectators as well as a safe crossing of the bike and running routes in certain places. Halfway around the main site, participants will cycle through the spectacular Jumpline, Pumptrack and Skill Zone, which will make the event even more interesting. All these sections are done very well by beginners and offer a good show during the passage of the most skilful. Refueling: It will be possible to refuel at many places on the bike course. Another of the big improvements this year will be the creation of a central and lively mega ravito. A convergence point for the bike and running routes as well as meeting points near the main site, to see the participants pass regularly. Supply distribution: KM 0: refueling in the transition zone KM 1: passage to the central mega ravito KM 12.5: passage to the central mega ravito KM 19.5: access to extra supplies KM 26: access to extra supplies Level of difficulty: For reference, the level of difficulty of the standard XTERRA Quebec bike course is between that of Bromont which is the most difficult and that of Tremblant which is the easiest. We recommend a minimum intermediate level of mountain biking ability to choose to participate in this format. If in doubt, we suggest starting with participation in the sprint format. In short, a dream course for those who have a minimum of experience and like groomed trails and work for more “flow”. Note that we have course options in case of bad weather or poor trail conditions. The idea is to preserve the more fragile trails in rainy conditions, mainly the climbs, and offer you the best experience depending on the situation on the day of the event.

A course completely renewed this year. The first 2.5 km will be relatively easy, except for a few small technical passages, which will allow you to put your legs in place after the bike test. There will be some more technical sections between km 2.5 and 3.25 and a moderately technical descent with superb beautiful passages over about 500m). The 2nd loop will be part of the 2021 sprint course over approximately 2.5 km. The 2 most technical portions of the course are found there: a 500m climb from km 4.5 to km 5 as well as a hilly section of also 500m from km 5.75 to km 6.25. From km 7.25, the vast majority of the final route takes the Kerozen, a mountain bike trail. Refueling: It will be possible to refuel at many places on the race course. Another of the big improvements this year will be the creation of a central and lively mega ravito. A focal point for the running and cycling routes as well as a meeting point near the main site, to see the participants pass regularly. A perfect distribution of supplies: Booster supply at KM 0: transition zone Ravito 1 at KM 1: passage to the central mega ravito Ravito 2 at KM 2.5: return from the Arène trail Ravito 3 at KM 4: passage to the central mega ravito Ravito 4 at KM 5.5: return from the Pas-Roi trail Ravito 5 at KM 7: passage to the central mega ravito Ravito 6 at KM 8.5: return from the Kerozen trail Arrival ravito at KM 10: main site Level of difficulty: For reference, the level of difficulty of the standard race course of XTERRA Quebec 2022 will be less difficult than those of Bromont, Tremblant and Gaspesia. The fact remains that some more technical sections scattered on the course will add a good challenge to the 10 km event with a total of 280m of elevation gain.
