EMEA'S Premier Off-Road Triathlon Series
Putting the region’s best triathletes to the test across every terrain imaginable, the EMEA tour touches down in 12 countries, from the rugged and rocky mountains of South Africa to the pristine lakes of Italy, to decide who will be crowned champion of the European, Middle Eastern and African region, and earn the right to race in the EMEA Tour Champion jersey.
To be crowned champion, athletes must compete for points using the XTERRA World Performance Index - a proprietary, formula-driven system that delivers a score for every finisher based on factors such as field strength and depth, number of participants, elevation, water and air temperature, rainfall, trail conditions, and more.
Those with the highest XTERRA World Performance Index points score at an XTERRA EMEA event at the end of the season - by gender and age group - will be named as the new reigning XTERRA Tour Champions of the EMEA region.
The tour is open to all amateur off-road triathletes, but athletes must start in at least three events within the tour to be eligible to be crowned as an XTERRA EMEA Tour Champion.

Rules and Qualification
1.
Age Groups
How old you are on December 31, 2023 determines your age group. There are divisions for men & women ages 15-19*, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+, and Physically Challenged OPEN.
*Under Italian Federation Rules, only athletes 18+ will be eligible to participate in the 2023 XTERRA World Championship in Italy.
2.
Race Participation
You must start at least three (3) XTERRA World Championship qualifying events in the EMEA region to be eligible for XTERRA EMEA Tour Champion honours. There is no limit to how many races you can do, but only races in the EMEA region count towards EMEA Tour titles. The season spans the entirety of the 2023 calendar year, from the first race of the season to the last.
3.
Score
You will receive an XTERRA World Performance Index points score at every event you compete in. The WPI is a formula-driven scoring system that ranks every athlete who competes at an XTERRA World Championship qualifying event based on the strength and depth of field, number of participants, difficulty of the course (e.g. elevation, water & air temperature, rainfall, trail type, etc.), level of event (e.g. Gold, Silver, Championship), and your finishing time.
4.
Tour Champion
The athlete with the highest XTERRA World Performance Index points score at an XTERRA EMEA event at the end of the season - by gender and age group - earns the title of XTERRA EMEA Tour Champion.
5.
Tie Breakers
If there is a tie in points score in the division, the tie-breaker will be the person with the most wins in that division. If still tied after counting wins, the person finishing highest in the most recent race where both competed. If no head-to-head exists, tie- breaker goes to the person finishing highest in the most recent race.
