RACE BRIEFING

The race briefing Junior S is at 09.30 and Junior XS at 10:30 at Klein Vaarwater, where the clothes can also be put on the numbered chairs.

Everyone must then be present.

CHANGE CLOTHES

Prior to the event, the children can change in the hall next to the swimming pool. When the children come out of the pool, they must walk to their clothing via the indicated route. There they can then change clothes and prepare for the bicycle part. As a true triathlete you can just keep on your swimwear, you pull on your bike / running gear that saves a lot of work. The clothing can also be placed with the bicycle, but this should not hinder other participants.

NB If there are children who also change shoes after cycling, make sure that the running shoes in switch zone T2 are on your numbered spot! You have to take care of this yourself.

Parents are NOT allowed to enter the transition zone. Follow the instructions of the volunteers.

SWIMMING

During the competition briefing, the classification of the starting series will be announced and in which order and in which course the start will be made. This classification can be viewed on the website in advance. The children are in a job with a number of them. So take each other into account. Try to swim as much as possible after each other, so keep both the way there and the way to the right (then you swim as it were a kind of ’round’ within your lane). Swimming on the back is not allowed! You can use this to hinder other children. The Junior S participants must be in the pool at 09:45, Junior XS participants must be in the pool at 10:45 and can wait here at the children’s pool until the other starter series are ready.

BICYCLES

Everyone is obliged to wear a bicycle helmet during the race. This can be placed with clothing or with the bicycle. The bike must be placed before the start in the transition zone (change zone T1) at the indicated numbered places. Remember where you park your bike, and check your steering number on departure, so that you don’t take someone’s else’s bike. In the transition zone T2 at the finish the places are not numbered (follow the instructions of the supervisors).

If you do not have a good or reliable bicycle yourself, you can borrow one for free at Fietsverhuur Metz. Register for this via info@xterra-netherlands.nl, and include your height. Please note that these are rental bikes with 3 gears and no racing bikes. On the race day, or the day before, you can your pick up your bike at bike rental Metz (strandweg 37, Buren Ameland). This is close to Klein Vaarwater (± 400 m.). The bicycle must also be returned here. The transition zone T1 where the bicycles will be located is at the rear of Klein Vaarwater. Remember where you park your own bike.

RUNNING

The participants of the Junior XS (8+ & 10+) run 1 lap of 1.25 km. The participants of Junior S (12+ & 14+) run 2 laps of 1.25 km

FINISH

Like all athletes participating in the XTERRA NETHERLANDS, XTERRA JUNIOR will also finish on the site (T2 / XTERRA Village) .

FOR THE PARENTS

Of course you want to help and assist your child as much as possible in this wonderful competition. But in order to offer all children space, we have a number of rules for parents:

• Due to the limited space with the large number of participants, no parents are allowed in the pool

• Only at Junior XS children may be helped to change by a maximum of 1 parent/guardian, but make sure that you do not hinder other children! Follow the instructions of the volunteers.

• Parental access to the transition area is prohibited.

• After the swim you naturally want to go to Transition Zone T2, the finish area as quickly as possible. To make everything go as safe and fair as possible, we ask you NOT to cycle with your child. Doing so may disqualify your child!

The transition zone T2 is located approximately 400m from the main building of Klein Vaarwater. You will be in time to see your child transition from cycling to walking again.

Swimwear can be taken immediately. If you are in a hurry to forget about it, Klein Vaarwater's banquet hall will remain open all afternoon.

TIME REGISTRATION

For the registration of swimming, cycling and running times we use REGISTRATION Racetimer / Chronotrack time tracking system. Every participant is obliged to wear the (rental) transponder on the ankle. Required ankle straps are supplied with the transponder.

The (rental) transponder for time registration is issued when the participation package is collected from the race officet.

The transponder must be returned to the organization after the finish. If the transponder is lost or not returned, an amount of € 50.00 will be collected.

MATERIALS/BIKES

It is possible to use an MTB from Fietsverhuur Metz during the XTERRA NETHERLANDS Junior. Send an email to info@xterra-netherlands.nl stating name, age and length.

The MTBs have to be picked up and returned at Bike Rental Metz in Buren.

TRAINING

Preparatory training sessions are organized in collaboration with the schools on Ameland. This is a wonderful promotion of the sports offer on Ameland and an incentive for children to discover and develop their endurance sports talents. Of course you can also train if you are not in a school on Ameland.
