The iconic Citadel of Namur, a fortress built in the first millennium of the Common Era, beckons XTERRA’s best to battle. The fortress looks down upon the Meuse River, whose strong currents force contestants to literally swim upstream in the opening section. The bike climbs unmercifully up cobblestone streets through castle grounds before plunging riders deep into the forest trails. On the run, which ventures over the hills and into the heart of the city, is where series points will be earned and champions will be crowned.

The race for Europe's biggest title

The second of the 3 continental championships of which all series contenders must race 2, Belgium brings with it 3 things: more prize money, more points, and much, much more competition.

Doubling as the XTERRA European Championship, stop #3 on the World Cup series offers a shot at one of the most coveted titles in off-road tri, which almost guarantees one of the most competitive start lists of the season. It’s no secret Europe currently dominates the upper tier of the XTERRA Rankings, and with so much on the line this double-feature weekend will be a show stopper.

Starting at the iconic Citadel, expect nothing less than full-gas off-road racing from start to finish in the full-distance race as the best in the world fight it out for regional championship glory, those all important series points, and a place on the line for the short track race the following day.

Alizée Paties: Why Mindset Matters
Alizée Paties (FRA) claimed the first victory of the XTERRA World Cup at the APAC Championship and now leads the series at the top of the women’s leaderboard. “It was a surprise but not a surprise,” Paties said. In a perfectly executed performance she passed current world #1 Solenne Billouin on the run to take the tape by a convincing gap of over 2 minutes. Her choice to wear a CamelBak under the hot and humid conditions in Taiwan might have been the key to her victory but, perhaps, we are now seeing a new side to Paties.
